CASE STUDY III - North American Company specialising in plowing services

The company had leased its machinery to an Indian contractor based on the recommendations without acquaintances and had not carried out a proper initial due diligence.  The contractor turned out to be a very unreliable and inexperienced individual. SKP periodically monitored the progress of the contractor and found that the latter was in financial doldrums and could not be trusted with such expensive machinery. SKP advised the client to re-export the equipment and arranged for customs clearance and total logistics support / insurance cover to ensure that the machinery was absolutely safe in transit. In fact an SKP manager accompanied the consignment, both from and to the port. SKP also negotiated with the shipping company, supervised the loading operations and managed to obtain a refund of Customs duty paid on imports to the extent of 85% of the duty paid earlier. The client received an exceptional service that went an extra mile and saved the management an additional headache and heartburn beyond the business failure.
